Isaac {at 12 months}

I have so enjoyed writing the monthly *happenings* of Isaac here...so I may just continue doing them until he's two! All of the things that he does from month to month are so important to me, yet they are so easily forgotten in so little time. I don't want to forget these things with him, or with Noah and Leah for that matter. These little things are just too important to me :).

Isaac has been a pure joy and such a wonderful addition to our family. His happiness radiates to all of us and we just can't help but put a smile on our faces when he is around. We sure do love this little ball of joy!

The past month, Isaac...

...has been a little more grumpy than usual. I attribute it to his teething, which I know is the natural thing for most mothers to do when they have babies this age. His teeth have bothered him from the beginning, and it seems like there is not much that can soothe him. The good thing is that his grumpiness does not last too long and he seems to act happy even when he isn't feeling 100%.

...has been loving trying new foods. Some of his new favorites are anything sweet {shocker!}, black beans, solid peas, and pretty much anything off of Mama's plate. If he doesn't like it, he'll just spit it out.

...cruises along everything, but he won't let go and walk on his own.

...still takes two really good naps. He's a growing boy!

...falls asleep for every nap, and at bed time, in my arms. Yes, he is totally spoiled, but I don't care. I LOVE having him drift off to dreamland in my arms :). Noah and Leah don't do that anymore, and I miss it. So I'm cherishing it with Isaac :).

...is very content when I am holding him. He is not a fan of being in the stroller or carseat, and the moment that I pick him up, he will stop fussing.

...is very much a Mama's boy. Makes me feel good!

...is also very much a Daddy's boy. I guess it just depends on the mood that he is in, but he'll let you know who he wants at any given moment.

...LOVES to play peek-a-boo. We play it at every diaper change...it's great fun!
...is starting to make lots of new sounds. His new favorite is "ga-ga". He says it most when Doug is around, so I *think* that is what he says instad of "da-da". Who knows ;).

...is still in 6-12 month clothes, but is starting to wear some bigger clothes. It kind of drives me nuts that he doesn't fit in Noah's summer clothes right now. All of the summer clothes that I have from Noah are 18 months+...they are way too big for Isaac right now. I'm hoping that he has a major growth spurt soon so that they can be worn again!

...enjoys playing with BOY toys and he will gravitate towards any of Noah's toys that are left out. He absolutely loves Noah's trucks and knows how they *work*...he'll push a car or truck along the floor with much happiness.

...he screams...like Leah did {and does} sometimes. Oh, help us! Not another one!

...does not like to be left alone for any period of time. As soon as he notices that I, or anyone, for that matter, has left the room, he starts to whine and will go on a hunt to find us.

...loves to give high fives.

...is starting to really understand things that we are saying to him. He knows that when I say "YUCKY" to something in his hand that he has found on the floor and is about to put in his mouth, it means to put it down. He knows some of his body parts...waving his hands, blinking his eyes, sniffing with his nose, sticking out his tongue. We love playing the "Where's your..."...he knows how to spice it up and make us laugh :).

Happy Birthday, Isaac!

It's official...my baby is ONE.

This year has been so great...Isaac has been such a wonderful addition to our family and we love him so much!

We definitely had reason to celebrate Isaac's birthday, so we made a weekend of it. We started off by celebrating with our family at our house.

I love my happy little guy...his smile is contagious!

Opening gifts with Isaac was fun. At first, he wasn't that interested, but as soon as he started to recognize that he was opening toys, he was all for it and very interested.

Isaac LOVES phones, and he recognized what this gift was the moment that he opened it. Thank you Aunt Annie, Uncle John, and Connor for the Elmo phone...it has been a big hit around here :).Noah and Leah gave him his very own sippy cups...he was thrilled :).He had fun showing off his walking skills. He is *SO* close to walking! I really think that he could walk if he really wanted to, but he won't let go and go for it. It'll happen soon enough. Then the time came for Isaac's cake. At first he was a little hesitant and didn't really know what to do......and then he went for it and put his hands in the cake, but he didn't like it one bit. He's a pretty clean little guy, so I'm sure he didn't like having all that cake on his hands. BUT, then he started to enjoy it. I knew that he would...it just took some time.YUM! It really was a good cake :).Check out that smile...he was so happy to be so messy! Love it!The next day was Isaac's actual birthday. We started our day off by going to the Strawberry Day's Parade...something tha we do every year. I wasn't able to go last year because I was in the hospital with Isaac! I was glad that we were able to go this year...

Noah was such a good big brother and would pick Leah up so that se could see the Princesses! She waved at all of them as they passed...it was so cute to see. The best was when Noah would see them coming and would let Leah know. I love how he's looking out for his little sis.Chillin' with Daddy.Check out all the snow in the mountains! It was such a nice day, but we are always reminded of how cold this past winter really was. Later that day, we headed to the zoo, which was so much fun. When we went to the zoo last year, it was the day before Isaac was born. It was our last family outing as a family of four. It was fun going this year and having Isaac with us!

The boys and the giraffes. Isaac was in awe by the giraffes and just stared and them and squealed with excitement. He was not a fan of the stroller on this outing. He wanted to be held the entire time so that he could see everything. We take a picture in this exact place every year. I love looking back on them.We couldn't leave without going on the train!

Our family on Isaac's birthday.

Happy FIRST Birthday, Isaac!

We love you to the moon and back!

So Pretty

Leah is such a girly girl...so she was beyond thrilled when she found my lipstick the other morning and made herself so pretty. Well, pretty according to her, a big mess according to me. BUT, the look on her face when she came to me to show me her little creation made me smile.
I mean...how can you not?

Summer is here...

...and we couldn't be MORE THRILLED!

We have jumped into the fun of summer with full force.

Going to the park...
Playing outside to our hearts content...and learning new skills. Like frisbee! Noah is surprisingly good :).Making ROOTBEER FLOAT popsicles...which are so yummy. We are also really into going to the Sno-Shack...definitely one of my favorite treats during the summer! The one thing that we are *really* looking forward to doing is going to the pool! The weather has been good, but still not pool weather. The wind makes it not so fun, although we have played in the water in our back yard...good times.

Let the fun begin :).
