My Buddy

The other day, this cute little boy went up to Doug, put his arm around him and said....

"Daddy, you're my buddy!" {which was accompanied by a little kiss on Doug's cheek}

Doug and I just looked at each other and smiled, as we were both thinking that we have the sweetest little boy and we are so thankful that he is ours. It was such a precious little moment!

Merry Christmas

We had such a wonderful Christmas this year. I was especially excited for Noah because he somewhat understood the fact that he was going to get some new toys and he knew exactly what he wanted...a Fire Truck {aka...a "woo-woo}. He was beyond thrilled when opened he presents and found that he had got what he wanted. Leah could have cared less about her toys, as she had more fun playing with the wrapping paper.

After a fun morning of flooding our living room with lot of new toys, we headed off to Doug's sister's house for brunch...it was fabulous! Noah had so much fun playing with his cousins, as usual, and we had a blast relaxing and enjoying the company of our dear family. Once we got home, we put the kids down for a nap, and Doug and I spend the afternoon playing Guitar Hero {our fun gift this year}...it's seriously SO MUCH FUN!

Once the kiddos awoke, we packed up and went to my parent's house. My mom and dad showered the kids with lots of goodies, and Doug and I got some fun stuff too! Noah loves Little Einsteins, and my mom and dad gave him a motorized Rocket for Christmas...he couldn't put it down. Leah got a fun Leap Frog Play Table, a Tinkerbell Doll, and some other fun stuff. Doug got a Russian book, I got a beautiful charm bracelet, and we both got a camera!!! I was ectatic! I have been borrowing my parent's camera, but now I have one that I don't have to give back. Yay!

There was a massive snowstorm starting when we were leaving my parent's, but we decided to take a chance and packed everyone and everything in the car and headed home. It took us almost two hours to get home, but we made it safe and sound.

Today, we got together with Doug's family to celebrate Christmas and my niece, Maya's, birthday. We had a great time eating, breaking the pinata {a Smith family tradition}, opening gifts, playing games, etc... It was a wonderful evening!

We hope that everyone had a fabulous Christmas...now go and enjoy all of your Christmas goodies :).

I took SO many pictures, so here some of my favorites as well a slide show. Enjoy!

Snowed In

The good thing about snow days is that it gives me an excuse to stay home and...

drink lots of hot chocolate {with LOTS marshmallows!}...
snuggle with Noah while he takes a nap and I watch The Polar Express {the cutest Christmas movie!}...bake lots {and I mean LOTS} of cookies with Noah...
and look at this cute little face all day :).
It was a good day :).

Christmas Party #1

We had our family Christmas party with my dad's side of the family tonight. This is the first of FOUR Christmas parties this week. I really do love Christmas because it is a time to get together with our families and share in the spirit of Christmas. It's wonderful! We had a wonderful time tonight, especially Noah, who had a blast playing with all of the kids. He was also a great little helper when it came to unwrapping the gifts from Grandma Fowler. Both Noah and Leah got a teddy bear, and Doug and I got a beautiful framed print...it's so beautiful and will look wonderful in Leah's room! I look forward to the rest of this week and I hope that everyone else has a wonderful week as well :). Merry Christmas!!!

Christmas Lights

We went and saw this Christmas light display tonight and I am AMAZED at how this is done! Amazed! Noah so enjoyed watching this...I think we are going to have to go and see this every Christmas from here on out. This was one of my favorite ones to watch...enjoy!

Winter Wonderland

We woke up this morning to a Winter Wonderland! Noah was thrilled and he spent almost the entire morning looking out the window saying "It snowed, it snowed!". I am not a fan of the cold, but I will admit that December isn't complete without some snow. I love looking outside and seeing the untouched blanket of snow. I talked to my Grandma yesterday and she told me that she will not let anyone walk around in her backyard because the sheet of untouched snow is so beautiful to look at...I would have to agree with her :). Leah was mesmerized by the falling snowflakes, and she also just sat by the window watching it come down. I love watching my children see things for the first time...it's amazing!

All Lined Up

Noah has this thing about lining stuff up...cars, blocks, plates, balls, and, as seen in this case, diapers! He will spend so much time making sure that each item is perfect. Notice how all of the diapers are facing the same direction and are the same distance apart? He is definitely a perfectionist!

After Bath

We took a picture of Leah after her bath last night and it reminds me of a picture of Noah that we took when he was a baby. Same towel, same look...too cute!

Party to Party

Today we woke up to the first major snow storm this year, and today was, of course, the day that we had two big get togethers that we had to go to. I so don't enjoy driving in the snow, but we had places to go today, so we packed everyone up and we were off. First we went to a party with some of my cousins and had a fabulous time. Noah had so much fun playing with his cousins...so much so, that I couldn't get a picture of him {big shocker!}. Later that day, we got together with my mom's side of the family for a surprise dinner for my Grandma. She has done so much for my Grandpa this past year, so my Grandpa decided to surprise her by having a dinner with all of her kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. My mom and her siblings took my grandparents to a concert during the day, and it was during that time that my cousins and I met at their house to set up the dinner. When Grandma finally showed up, she was shocked! She was thrilled that we all got together to celebrate her and let her know how much she means to us. We had a great time today spending time with our family...I love my family!!!

Noah had a blast playing at my Aunt and Uncle's house!
This was the best picture that I could get of the boy...he avoids the camera as much as possible.
Leah got this adorable bracelet from her cousin Molly. It has bells on it and about an hour after putting it on her she realized that it made noise, so she spent most of her day shaking her hand around...it was cute :).
Leah and Lexi
These girls are 5 days apart! Lexi is SO much bigger then Leah...it is funny to see them side by side. They are going to be good friends ;).
Leah, Brayden, & Lexi
SURPRISE! Grandma was so happy to see everyone when she walked in the door. Heidi made this beautiful cake...amazing!
Noah enjoying his cake.
Doug enjoying his iPhone.
I wonder what he would do with his spare time if he didn't have his phone to keep him company!

Noah was beyond tired at this point.

***Hey Mom....it looks like I AM taller then you! Ha! Love you :).

It was a long day and Noah crashed as soon as we walked in the door. He had better sleep well tonight...I think he will :).

Kappa Christmas Party

Last night I went to a Christmas party with my sorority sisters from college. Not many people know that I was in a sorority in college, and I must say that my college experience was so much better because of these wonderful ladies! I have so many memories to take with me from my college days because of my Kappa sisters. I love getting together with these girls! So much has happened in all of our lives since college and it is so nice to catch up and to just see everyone. Thank you, ladies, for a fun evening!

Sleep Well?

I went to check on Leah before I went to bed last night, and this is what I found. She must have sat up after I put her down for bed, and then she just fell over onto her legs and fell asleep. Poor baby. That can't be comfortable, right?

Leah's First Tooth

Leah's first tooth broke through yesterday. She has been chewing on anything she can get her hands on for the past little while, but she hasn't been crying or acting like her teeth are bothering her, thank goodness. Noah drooled like crazy when he was breaking his teeth and Leah doesn't drool at all, which is very nice :). Here is a glimpse of her first tooth, and I have added a funny picture too.

Can you see the little white line on her bottom gum?

Santa

I thought that it would be a good idea to take Noah and Leah to see Santa today...I thought wrong! It was a disaster! All I really wanted was a picture of Noah and Leah on Santa's lap, since that was what we have done with Noah the past two years....and the pictures from the past two years turned out wonderfully! See...

Christmas 2006

Christmas 2007
Once we got up to see Santa, Noah ran away and fell on the floor. Doug went and got him and held him on his lap instead. Then I tried to get a picture of Noah by Santa's side, and he decided to stick his tongue out. THEN, I wanted to attempt to get a picture with Noah and Leah toghether with Santa, and the moment I handed Leah to Santa she started to SCREAM. Maybe I will attempt to get a Santa picture in a few weeks. Doug said that these pictures are the best...good memories! It's a good thing that we decided against buying a picture from Santa this year...plus can you believe that they charge you $24 for one picture?!?! Anyway, I totally got a kick out of this and I just had to share...

Doug was holding Noah by Santa's side
Noah being a little stinker...oh my!
This picture is classic!
Oh...and Santa told Doug that we only have about 2 seconds to get a good picture before they start freaking out. I wish he would have told me that beforehand! Maybe next time.

Christmas Tree

We have had a real tree every year since we have been married and every year I am beyond frustrated because it always dies by mid-December! I love it, feed it, give it all of the attention that it needs and it just dries up and becomes a big pain to clean up. SO, this year we decided to get a fake tree, and I love it already! Reasons why I love my new tree:

~ I didn't have to go to a lot to pick it out, which means we didn't have to deal with sales people. ~ It was so easy to put up AND the lights were already on it, so I saved a lot of time there!
~ I don't have to water it every day.
~ I KNOW that it is going to look just as pretty in one month as it does today :).
~ I don't have to clean up all of the pine needles every day.
~ I don't have to deal with getting rid of it at the end of December.

Yes, I really think that getting a fake tree is a good idea for us. It doesn't smell as good, but a nice seasonal candle will fix that :).

That said...we set up our Christmas tree this weekend. Christmas is by far my favorite holiday, so I wasn't going to waste any time putting up the Christmas decor once Thanksgiving was over. Noah was such a great help and he had so much fun putting the ornaments on the tree with me. Let the holidays begin :).
