Tonka Trucks and Pillow Forts

My mom came to visit Noah and I this afternoon. We went to lunch at Kneaders (yummy!) and then we just relaxed at my house and played with Noah. My mom and dad gave Noah a Tonka Truck for his birthday and today he showed my mom how much he liked it...

When Doug got home Noah insisted that he get on the bed to play with the pillows. Doug made him a "fort" out of the pillows and he thought that it was so neat. He sat between the pillows and just laughed and laughed. It was so cute that I had to share some pictures. I especially like the last picture with his little pucker, which is his "new" thing (he walks around the house puckering his lips all of the time...so cute!).

Yum!

After lunch today I thought I would share some of my cookie with Noah. I walked away for a moment, and when I came back this is what I found. Needless to say, Noah REALLY enjoyed his cookie! It is amazing what a mess a child can make out of something so small!

My Little Snuggle Bug

Noah is becoming my little Snuggle Bug! Every time that I pick him up he puts his head down on my shoulder. There are times when he squeezes my neck and doesn't want me to put him down. I truely cherish every hug from my little angel! He also showers me with tons of kisses! He must have learned that from me because I am always giving him tons of hugs and kisses. He is so sweet!!!

Ribbon Flip Flops

My cousin, Sara, gave me these CUTE Flip Flops for my birthday. She got them at Old Navy and then she wrapped a ribbon around them to spice them up. Isn't that the cutest idea?!?! I will definitely be wearing these around all summer! Thank you Sara!

Retro Orange Diaper Bag

I have been working on this bag the past few days. I found this fabric at a quilting store in Lehi and I fell in love with it! I think this fabric is very retro and it is so much fun!

There is a flap to keep everything enclosed. The strap is 3 inches wide and it is really long so that I can sling it across my shoulders. The interior has 4 pockets, a sippy cup holder, and clip to hold my keys. I am pretty proud of myself with this one! What do you think?

Happy Father's Day

I hope that all of you wonderful dads out there had a great Father’s Day!! I am so thankful for my dad and all that he does for me and my sweet little family. He is such a fun guy and I always have a good time when he is around. I love you Daddy!!!

I am so also very thankful to Doug and for the wonderful father that he is to Noah. I know that he cherishes every moment that he has with Noah and I know that he loves him with all of his heart. He would do anything to protect Noah and he thoroughly enjoys having him in our family. I am so grateful to married to such a wonderful man who is such a wonderful father! I love you Doug!!!

Busy Day!!

We had such a busy day today….Noah and I went to SLC at 10:30 so that I could get my haircut, then we went to IKEA with my mom (very fun!), then we had lunch at IKEA, went to Costco, came home, went to the Smith’s for a Father’s Day BBQ, then to a Birthday Party for Noah’s friend Milo….whew! Noah only slept for 1 hour total today, so he was exhausted when we finally came home. Here is a picture of Noah when we got home tonight (he is just in his diaper because he thought that it would be fun to dump water down the front of him, and unfortunately I didn’t have a change of clothes…he obviously was very hot from the heat today!!!).

He didn't even wake up when we got him out of his seat and got him ready for bed...he just layed there sound asleep. So sweet!

Cafe Rio Pork and Creamy Tomitillo Dressing

I found this recipe today and I had to share it with everyone. I LOVE Cafe Rio...ok...I LOVE, LOVE, etc... Cafe Rio! It is by far one of our favorite restaurants to go to. Doug and I especially like their pork, so here is the "mock-up" recipe that I found. I haven't tried this yet, but I plan on making it this coming week. I will let you know how it is once I make it.

Here is the recipe:

3-4 lbs pork roast (can substitute chicken)
1 cup brown sugar
3 cups salsa

Mix above ingredients in a crock pot and let cook for 10 hours on low.

Dressing:
1 packet of buttermilk ranch dressing
1 cup sour cream
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup buttermilk
Cilantro (1-2 bunches to taste)
1/2 cup salsa verde
Jalepeno pepper (use a little at first and determine level of spice you want)
2 medium cloves of garlic

Put all dressing ingredients in a blender and blend for a few minutes, stirring occasionally.

Trimmings for the Salad:
- Tortillas- Black/Pinto beans- Guacamole- salsa- Rice (Use spanish rice with pinto beans)- Cheese- Sour cream- Tortilla strips (or crumbled chips).

To assemble:
Heat a tortilla with cheese in a skillet on the stove. Then move to a bowl or plate. Add rice, pork, lettuce, tortilla strips, sour cream, guacamole, and any other above trimmings listed.

Top 10 Things That I LOVE About Summer (this year)

1. My Birthday!!! (If I need to remind anyone, it is on July 3rd!!).
2. The Fourth of July! Doug's family LOVES the 4th of July and it has become a tradition in the family for everyone to go to the Parade in Provo, then to their cousin Ingrid's house for watermelon (they have a party that lasts all day long!!), then we go to The Brick Oven for lunch (yum!!), then we all get together later on that day at Doug's parent's house for a BBQ and to watch the fireworks. Paul and Karin's house is right across the street from where the fireworks are set off. It is such a fun day!!!
3. Swimming. Oh…I love swimming! Always have! The pool in the community where we live is supposed to be done this month, so Noah and I will be spending a lot of time there. If anyone wants to come with us, let me know J.
4. BBQs. Mmmmmm…. What more is there to say?!?!?
5. Snow Shacks (Red Raspberry, to be specific)! Mmmmmmm… What more is there to say?!?!?
6. Going to the Fowler Cabin. I don't go to the cabin as much as I want to anymore, but this is one of my favorite childhood memories. My Mom and Dad used to own some property in Cache County and they built a small "cabin", we called it "The Shed", on it. We used to go up there almost every weekend during the summer, and it was so much fun! My Grandma Fowler's cabin was just below the property, so it was fun to have family there and be able to go hiking, exploring, four-wheeling, and just play!
7. Warm, or HOT, weather. I don't care what anyone says; I HATE when it is cold! In my opinion, the only good thing about winter is skiing…that’s it! I like to be outside an enjoy myself instead of freezing!
8. So You Think You Can Dance! The best show on TV during the summer. If you aren't watching it already, I highly recommend that you do! I LOVE watching this show. It is on Fox on Wednesday and Thursday nights!
9. Sandals! I think that wearing sandals 24/7, or no shoes at all for that matter, is the greatest! This is definitely one of my top reasons for loving summer!
10. Evening Walks. I love to go on a nice walk after the sun has gone down and it is quiet and mellow outside.

Pink Strip Diaper Bag

I made this bag today during Noah's nap. I wanted it to be a diaper bag, so on the inside I added a piece of elastic to put a bottle or sippy cup. There are a total of 3 pockets.

Red Dot and Pink Dot Handbags

I have been making some more handbags the past few weeks, so I thought I would share some with you. I am going to buy some magnetic snaps, which I think will be better then the ribbon closure. I am also getting some brad feet to put on the bottom so that the bottom doesn’t get all banged up. What do you think? It is definitely a work in progress!

Chugga Chugga Choo Choo

This toy train was Noah’s first toy. It was actually given to him before he was even born! The Christmas before he was born, my mom had some presents for “Baby Boy Smith”. All of the gifts were related to trains, and this was one of them. Noah loves this train and he would be content pushing it around the kitchen all day long!

One Tear

Noah was a little sad this morning when I wouldn't let him play with my cell phone (he has already done enough damage to it!). A few minutes after his little tantrum, I looked over and noticed that he had one tear sitting under his eye. I just had to share.

May 2007

Here are some pictures from May (click on the picture below to see the entire album).

May 2007
Here are some of my favorites:

This rocking horse was my dad's when he was a kid. My Grandma Fowler had my aunt fix it up and then she gave it to him for Christmas this past year. Noah isn't big enough to sit on it by himself, but he loves it when we hold him on it.
I love this picture of Noah....I love his smile! He is so sweet!

Puddle Jumper Shoes

I am always on the lookout for a cute pair of shoes for Noah, and today I found some! Check out Puddle Jumper Shoes....they are absolutely adorable! The little girl shoes are the cutest, but I am obviously not in the market for those. I think I might have to purchase a pair of these for Noah:

Hogle Zoo

I have been wanting to take Noah to the zoo because he LOVES animals, so I was excited when I was able to with my family last week. Last Tuesday, me, Noah , my mom {Kris}, Grandpa and Grandma {Paul and Bev}, aunt {Karin}, and cousins {Jana, Karli, and Rob (he is actually Jana’s boyfriend, not cousin)} went to spend a day at the zoo, and it was absolutely fabulous! We had such a wonderful time….laughing, seeing, enjoying one another’s company. We went to a bird show, which was fabulous, and then we spent our precious time walking around looking at all of the beautiful animals. Noah was so good and he enjoyed staring at all of the animals. He especially liked the gorilla because she was sitting right up by the glass, so Noah was literally inches away from her. We had such a wonderful time and I know that we will go back soon. Here are some pictures from our fun filled day:

Snow in June?

Ok…I have lived in Utah my entire life and I know that the weather here can be very strange. Yes, this past week it has been beautiful, warm, sunny, summer-like even! Oh, but not today! Snow in June, you ask? YES! It snowed in the mountains today! Can you believe it?!?!? I tell ya….I can handle the snow in the winter, but, come on, not in June! Here are some pictures of the mountains from my parent’s house from this afternoon. Can you believe it?

Flip Flops

I LOVE Flip Flops! I don't think I ever wear regular shoes when it is warm outside. I was on another blog today and I saw a post for flip flops at The Gap. I went and checked them out on Gap.com and I love them! The bonus is that they are all on sale for $10! I think I might have to go and purchase some for summer! I especially like these ones.

Happy June!

I can't believe that it is already June! Summer is almost here...yay!!! I love to be outside and I would much rather deal with the warm/hot weather then the cold weather...I can't stand the cold! It is such a beautful time of year right now and I am so glad that it is just starting!! I have so much to look forward to this summer. I want to make sure that I go on a lot of hikes this summer so that I can go and see the beautiful wild flowers...I love wild flowers! Anyway, Happy June!
